A weekly review template for busy people (15 minutes, Sunday)
Updated 7 October 2026
The short answer: look at the week's numbers, answer three questions, set two or three targets for next week, and carry over what's unfinished. Fifteen minutes on Sunday, and the whole next week runs on it.
Step 1: the numbers (3 minutes)
Before opinions, facts. How many of this week's commitments did you keep? How many workouts? How did the days feel, on a 1 to 5 scale? Which area of life got nothing: movement, rest, food, focus, learning, people, work, play? Numbers make the next step honest.
Step 2: look back (5 minutes)
Three questions, short answers:
- What was the win of the week? Pick one. It goes in your highlights.
- What went well, and what drained you? Patterns show up here: the late meetings, the skipped lunches, the Tuesday run that fixed everything.
- What do you want more of? Usually the answer is already in the previous question.
Step 3: next week (7 minutes)
- Two or three targets, not ten. Each in a different area if you can: "3 runs," "finish chapter 6," "date night." Make them countable.
- Carry over, don't copy. Anything unfinished from this week either moves to next week on purpose or gets dropped on purpose. No silent rollovers.
- Put them on days. "3 runs" is a wish; "Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday long" is a plan. Your morning standup then suggests the right commit on the right day.
When to do it
Sunday evening or Monday morning both work. If you miss Sunday, review the past week on Monday and plan the current one; don't skip a week because the ritual slipped a day.
The mistake to avoid
Reviewing without planning. A look back that doesn't set next week's targets feels reflective and changes nothing. The review is only finished when Monday's first commit exists.
How KeepCourse helps
The weekly review shows your numbers automatically (commits kept, day grades, the area you neglected), asks the three questions, carries unfinished targets over with one tap, and hands next week's targets to your morning standups.
Small daily commits. Your life on course.
